We are the champions!
 
A group of teachers from The Foreign Languages Network decided to create a contest in which English was the means of communication, but gaining and testing general culture knowledge was the aim.

As expected, Test Your Knowledge Contest was lunched on October 2018 with the preliminary rounds. The deadline for inscriptions was September the 30th; more than 30 institutions sent their inscriptions, but some of them were out of time!

The preliminary rounds were a hit! Students had fun while they were challenged. It was also an opportunity to hear them speak their minds about the contest, the questions, the methodology and the ideas to have in mind for future activities.

6 students integrated each group: Two from 9th, two from 10th and two from 11th grade. They had to answer 60 questions in a game created with Quizziz, a multiplayer quizzing platform that make quizes feel like a game 😎

Teachers created a bank of 143 questions and the topic was Cali and Festivities around the world. Groups were divided in four sessions with a different game (A, B, C or D) - No chance of cheating there 💪 and the questionnaires were sent to schools, so they could have a chance to prepare for the game.

For the final, three groups were selected: the three of them had exactly the same number of correct questions 😲 They met face to face on November the 2nd. This time, the contest was organized in Jeopardy; there were several categories and questions were punctuated according to their level of difficulty. The group that obtained most points was the winner.

Students were sent a second document for the Spelling session; the vocabulary was places in the city.

Although there was only a winner team, all students felt they were the stars of this show.

All in all, the experience was enriching, challenging and simply wonderful. And as with all great shows, we had two amazing presentations at the beginning and at the end of the game.
